Since opening in the 1930s, we at Gyllene Uttern have focused on serving high-quality food in a classic style, using local ingredients from the surrounding area. Our dishes are carefully prepared to match the spectacular view of Lake Vättern that surrounds the restaurant.

STARTER

Dill & Cucumber 165 SEK 

Our cucumber and dill soup is refreshingly cool and bright green. The plate also features chilled pearl onions and cucumber pearls, served with a creamy cream cheese flavored with jalapeño. 

Tomatoes & Cream Cheese $16.50 

We make our cream cheese using Swedish dairy products. A burst of color from Vikentomater tomatoes in a vinaigrette, paired with our own sun-dried tomato pesto. The delightful crunch comes from butter-toasted rye bread 

Skagen Toast $18.50 

Hand-peeled shrimp in a creamy emulsion flavored with lemon and dill, along with red onion, chives, and horseradish. This is served on butter-toasted brioche, topped with trout roe. 

Main course

Eldost $29.50 

Björkenäs Mathantverk makes its award-winning Eldosten using milk from Slättna Gård in Eksjö. We then deep-fry it until golden brown and serve it with Sandefjord sauce, along with roasted and fresh tomatoes, leafy greens, and crispy breadcrumbs. 

Char 325 SEK 

The Golden Otter’s constant companion—char! We serve it with classic Sandefjord sauce and trout roe, along with freshly boiled new potatoes tossed in butter and dill. Accompanied by lightly charred summer vegetables and a tangy gooseberry vinaigrette. 

Swedish Sirloin Steak 395 SEK 

Swedish sirloin steak with a crust, served with fried potatoes seasoned with Wrångebäck cheese and herbs. Accompanied by a red wine sauce, roasted and fresh tomatoes, along with leafy greens and crispy breadcrumbs. 

Pork belly 195 SEK 

Vaggeryds Chark makes our lard sausages by the book, and they’re just the right balance of tangy and smoky—exactly how we like them! We stick to a classic serving style with parsley-simmered potatoes, pickled beets, and Visingsö mustard 

 

Dessert

Strawberries 125 SEK 

A delicious strawberry compote served with creamy yogurt ice cream and crispy cardamom crumble, all topped with a reduced strawberry vinegar. 

Rhubarb 125 SEK 

Baked rhubarb served with a smooth white chocolate crème aux fruits. Topped with a crispy oat crumble and a combination of salty and sweet caramel sauce. 

Crème Brûlée $11.50 

A classic we never get tired of! This summer, we’re giving it an exciting twist with hibiscus blossoms and a hint of bourbon vanilla. It’s then caramelized to a crisp with cassonade sugar. 

Coffee treats 95 SEK  

Our own coffee treats: dark truffles flavored with sea salt and honey, and strawberry-flavored Turkish delight
